BSMS Shines at Regionals
Finally completing the Cuba City Regional meet around 4:40pm on Tuesday afternoon after a long two plus hour weather delay on Monday night and eventually the suspension of all activities around 11:00 pm, the BSMS boys 4x400 relay realized one of their goals - winning the regional title. The relay team of Aaron Pulvermacher, Troy Turpin, Ethan Shetler, and David Germaine cruised to a new Tri-Op record (previously held by same group, set earlier this season) with a winning time of 3:30.84, easily outdistancing runner-up Darlington (3:34.54). The boy's squad had a fine showing, finishing second (157) to Darlington (163) in the final team standings, and ahead of Cuba City (131), who grabbed third place.
The boy's team qualified for sectionals in 14 of the 18 events sponsored. Leading the way were regional champions: Jeremiah Bailey (HJ 5' 10", TJ 40' 3"), and Caleb O'Neill in the 400m dash (55.14). Other members of the relay were Paige Murphy, Chloe Matthews, and Calli Jerry. Junior Brianna Leahy also claimed the shot title (40' 4.75") and finished third in the discus with a toss of 122' 05".
