BSMS Boys Dominate Redbird Invitational
After a ten day layoff the BSMS boy's track and field squad was eager to get back to competition and they did so in a huge way on Monday, scoring 188 points to easily outdistance Darlington (132) and Monroe (123) to claim the ten team Darlington Redbird Invitational title.
The boys won seven events, but it was their depth that came through on the night. Invitational champions were: Jeremiah Bailey in the HJ (6'0"), 300IH (44.91) and the 110HH (17.00), Lance Lierman LJ (19' 3"), David Germaine 400m (53.23), the 4x100 relay (Coffey, Lierman, Shetler, Sigwarth) 46.61, and the 4x400 relay (Aaron Pulvermacher, Troy Turpin, Ethan Shetler, David Germaine) 3:34.88. The 4x400 relay's time set a new Tri-Op record. Also placing in the top three spots were: Christian Vigrask (40' 5") 3rd shot, Jeremiah Bailey (41' 9.5") 2nd TJ, Ben Sigwarth (19' 2.75") 2nd LJ, Ben Davis (10') 2nd PV and (5' 10") 2nd HJ, Matt Davis (47.32) 2nd 300IH, Josh Redfearn (4:59.67) 2nd 1600m and (2:10.06) 3rd 800m, Troy Turpin (4:59.68) 3rd 1600m, Lance Lierman (12.35) 3rd 100m, the 4x200 relay (Coffey, Shetler, Sigwarth, Pulvermacher) 3rd 1:38.41 and the 4x800 relay (Germaine, Pulvermacher, Krueger, P. Martin) 3rd 9:11.17.
The girls also competed very well, taking third place (111) behind champion Monroe (157) and Darlington (147.5). They too claimed seven first place finishes led by triple winner Emma Lawrence who claimed gold in the 100HH (16.21), 300LH (45.79), and the triple jump (34' 8"), double winner Paige Murphy LJ (17' 1.75"), and 200m (27.87), Brianna Leahy in the shot (39' 8") and Trinity Law in the HJ (5'0"). Paige's leap in the long jump set a new Tri-Op record. The 4x100 relay (Matthews, Law, Jerry, Murphy) took second (53.31) while the 4x200 relay (Matthews, Law, Jerry, Murphy) grabbed third (1:55.34). The next meets up are a Quad in Platteville (5-9), on Fri. (5-12) at the Belleville Invitational, and the Six Rivers Conference Meet @ UWP on the 15th.
